Let me just start by saying…

There is no magic solution in starting or running a medical practice. There’s beauty and there’s hardship in that phrase - the beauty being you can make anything your heart desires as long as you’re willing to put in the hard work. I’ve spent 7 years of my life building a million+ dollar medical clinic from the ground up and there was nothing easy about it.

Over the years, people have remarked “you should teach others to do the same” and I’ve scoffed at the idea. What did a newbie have anything to teach anyone about business? In my opinion, young business owners who are seeking to invest their hard earned money into business mentorship deserve a mentor who has tried things, failed at others, and have been around long enough to gain wisdom not just knowledge. That’s what I needed in the early days.

 

My business journey

I started my solo medical practice in a 125 sqft room in a co-working space - just a desk, a few chairs and a liquidated IRA that helped cover my rent for 5 months. That was the first goal I gave myself - make enough revenue to cover my rent so I could keep my physical location. Needless to say, I survived my first year and decided creating an actual business not just a private practice was my ultimate goal.

From there, MIMC grew into a 1700 sqft clinical space. It’s in this home that I learned many of the trials and tribulations in running a business. From marketing and business operations to taking on financing and purchasing another medical practice. It’s also the place I fell in love with being an entrepreneur & business owner.

Now, MIMC has grown into a 4100 sqft clinical space with expanded services, deeper community connections and bigger goals for our success.

    My final thoughts…

    I’ve intentionally waited these years to even offer wisdom in this space because I wanted any person who decided to put their faith in me to feel like they received more value than they paid for. It’s not until now, 7 years later, that I finally feel like I’m getting past the imposter syndrome and embracing that I’m pretty good at what I do. With that, I know firsthand how scary it is to invest in consulting & mentorship when you’re not even sure you can make your rent. But ultimately the money I’ve invested in myself & my business has lead to substantial and accelerated growth. I took leaps of faith in choosing my mentors and now I’m asking that you take one with me.
